Becoming Butterflies!

From the Editor, Jeanela Macedo 2024-2025 SOHO Intern

Hello, my name is Jeanela Macedo. I joined SOHO as a mentee back in 2019, but now I am the new SOHO Assistant Program Manager. The transition from being a mentee to having such an awesome position and role here on the SOHO team has been very nostalgic and such a big blessing for me.

The story behind the theme of this issue, “Becoming Butterflies,” was inspired by the “mascot” for SOHO, which is a butterfly. Before butterflies become the big beautiful insects that they are, they first have to go through their caterpillar phase, then into their cocoon where they transform. This is a great representation of us SOHO girls. In the beginning, each new group of girls tends to be a little shy, but as they try new things and meet new people in the safety of their SOHO cocoon, they gradually start to get out of their comfort zone and grow. Towards the end of their initial SOHO year, their growth is undeniable and they soar to bright futures.  Read on for the proof of this.
