SOHO Celebrates 20 years!

In October, the SOHO Board invited community members, partners, and donors to an event with “no asks, just appreciation” for 20 years of outstanding impact.

Over the past 20 years, 450 fifth graders have been paired with a mentor to experience the magic of life skills, one-on-one mentorship and space transformation. SOHO’s program has evolved from a warehouse on the corner of Duke and Union Streets in Old Town, Alexandria to partnerships with numerous noteworthy organizations, foundations and businesses – each of which invests to make SOHO’s program stronger every year and provide Alexandria’s girls with quality adult mentors, stimulating art and STEM lessons, life skills-building activities, collaboration with parents and guardians, and connection to resources that help them thrive.

Thanks a Brunch attendees had the opportunity to learn about and celebrate SOHO’s accomplishments, as well as share their personal thoughts on what makes SOHO special. While all who attended has had a role in the organization’s success, SOHO’s Board took the opportunity to recognize the impact several partners, donors and volunteers have had on building resiliency and community for each and every SOHO girl.
