SOHO Transforms Lives
Space of Her Own, Inc. (SOHO) is an award-winning 501c3 charitable organization committed to helping girls make good choices, live healthfully, communicate openly, progress academically, and give back to others.
Two programs for fifth graders operate from Alexandria, Virginia, each supporting 13 girls. The SOHO Club provides activities and services to SOHO girls and their mentors throughout their middle school years, promoting long-term mentoring relationships and ongoing learning opportunities
Art as a Catalyst
SOHO empowers girls to harness their creativity through professionally-led art and STEM projects. Girls learn to see the arts as a means of self-expression and an endeavor at which all can succeed.
Positive Female Role Models
SOHO recruits and trains outstanding, creative, and diverse adult mentors who support SOHO girls in their social, emotional, and academic development. Each week, mentors and mentees work together on an array of art and STEM projects, building skills and career interests along the way. We support our mentors in becoming consistent, safe, and non-judgmental guides for their mentees, empowering SOHO girls to become the best they can be.
More than Mentoring
Our unique community partnerships with the City of Alexandria government, schools, nonprofits, and other entities enable SOHO to be more than a mentoring program. These relationships across multiple sectors allow us to offer hands-on experiences and provide additional support to SOHO girls and their families when needed.

On Wednesday, April 22nd, SOHO’s supporters rallied on one day to give back to the Alexandria community. SOHO will again be participating in Spring2ACTtion this year and we’d LOVE your support! This year we have 24 girls and 10 boys in the SOHO program that need your help. With our goal of $12,000, we hope to raise enough funds to complete 24 room renovations AND provide 24 new mattresses!
